Liam Heath  from Gillespie's playing Jazz Trumpet won the Instrumentalist 1st prize at the Rotary Club of Braids Young Musician of the Year 2005

Competition held at Merchiston Castle School on Thursday 27 January.  Liam was competing against 15 other instrumentalists, all of them older than him and many in S 5 and S 6.  His choice was the unanimous decision of the panel of 3 judges and his playing of the piece "Stella by Starlight" was quite simply inspired!
